Justin Szlasa
DIRECTOR OF LAURA
Where you come from
Driven by a commitment to solve society's toughest challenges, I bring 25+ years of experience across technology, media, finance, and corporate governance. I've worked in refugee camps in former Yugoslavia to the streets of LA—and focused on systematic impact through entrepreneurship and nonprofit leadership.
What you love about your role/work
I love work that operates at the intersection of innovation and social impact. Whether mobilizing resources to address homelessness, advancing clean technology, or telling stories that move hearts and minds, my goal is to create tangible positive change.
A bit about me
I serve as a non-compensated Commissioner at the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority and served on the Finance Committee and currently chair the Audit Committee. I sit on the board of AZA Battery, advise Moon Five Technologies, and served on the board of SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition where I was treasurer and transitional executive director. I bootstrapped a web marketing agency to $11M in revenue and 100+ employees (acquired by Thomson Reuters), built two startups at the intersection of media and technology, and have directed and produced documentaries, commercials, and video content.
When not working, you can find me…
Hiking Griffith Park with my wife and kids, biking Mt. Baldy, or hosting a meal for friends.
