Reinventing Homelessness Management with Technology
THE CHALLENGE
Homelessness in Santa Monica
The surge of homelessness is becoming an urgent reality for many in our city. On any given night, there are approximately 985 homeless individuals in Santa Monica. In the greater LA region, that number is closer to 59,000. Rising rents, stagnant wages, and a decreased supply of affordable housing means that over 13,000 people in LA County lose their housing every month.
THE SOLUTION
Powering Collaboration with Technology
To aid in Santa Monica’s fight, FCI in collaboration with Akido Labs developed a homelessness management solution that supports the City of Santa Monica’s coordination of care for “high utilizers” experiencing homelessness. This was done by providing data infrastructure, proprietary data mining algorithms, and a mobile application.
The Connect Mobile App
The Connect application enables the effective aggregation, utilization, and sharing of City data for multiple roles within public service, such as Police, Fire, and Human Services staff members in the field.
